Meet Smokey...

Smokey is a budgie, an English budgie, to be exact. Budgies are like parakeets, only smaller. There are generally two types of budgies, American budgies and English budgies. English budgies have slightly bigger foreheads, but they're still just as cute (because as you can see, Smokey is ah-dorable).

He's blue and white, and approximately one year old. We got him at Bird Camp, a bird breeders where they specialized in blue English budgies that were hand-raised. When we got him, Smokey turned out to have a virus, so he had to take a couple of trips to the vet.

Smokey is generally a quiet bird, but he has some strange habits, such as:

Hiding (and pooping) in the newspaper bin

Climbing around in the houseplant

Flying under the TV (you would think that, as a bird, he would like to hide up in high places, but not this bird)

Smokey has a BFF. But it's not another bird. It's a stuffed robin with an afro (yes, an afro, you read that right). My friend Treebark gave him to me. Her blog address is on the Links page.

Since there's not much else to say about Smokey, here's a bit about me:

My favorite colors are orange and light blue

I like reading Garfield and Donald Duck comics

I love junk food (I mean, who doesn't? LOL)

My favorite holiday is Christmas

I love marine biology

I think Yorkies (and, of course, budgies) are super-cute
